LED has become one of the leading roles of "energy saving, carbon reduction and green development" in China due to its main characteristics of energy saving and environmental protection.
LED lighting has obvious carbon reduction effect. Semiconductor LED technology has a wide range of applications in lighting, back lighting, display, landscape, automotive lighting and other fields, among which, lighting contributes the most to energy saving and carbon reduction. LED is the most efficient artificial light source so far. It can save electricity in the process of replacing traditional incandescent lamp, energy-saving lamp and high-pressure sodium lamp. From this point of view, it is a direct carbon reduction.
Lighting accounts for 13 percent of China's electricity consumption, equivalent to 6 percent of the country's energy consumption, according to the National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&d and Industry Alliance. Compared with traditional light sources, LEDS reduce lighting energy consumption by 50 to 75 percent. Ruan Jun, executive deputy secretary general of the alliance, told China Electronics News that China has the highest penetration rate of LED lighting and the energy saving effect is remarkable. In 2020, the domestic sales penetration rate of LED lighting products (sales volume of LED lighting products/sales volume of LED lighting products) exceeded 75%, and the consumption penetration rate (sales volume of LED lighting products/sales volume of LED lighting products) exceeded 53%, ranking the highest in the world. In terms of energy saving, during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, China's LED lighting has achieved 1.33 trillion degrees of energy saving, about equivalent to the sum of the electricity consumption of Russia and France in 2020.
Compared with the traditional light source, the luminous efficiency of LED lamps is significantly improved. Among indoor lamps, the light efficiency of incandescent lamp is about 20lm/W(lumen/watt), fluorescent lamp is about 60lm/W~80lm/W, and LED lamp is about 110lm/W. In outdoor lamps, the light efficiency of high-pressure sodium lamp is 75LM /W~100lm/W, the light efficiency of metal halide is 60lm/W~90lm/W, and the light efficiency of LED street lamp is 130lm/W. "The more light you get, the more energy you use, so LEDS are the poster child for green lighting." In addition, the person in charge told reporters that the life of incandescent lamp is about 1000 hours, the life of fluorescent lamp is about 6000 hours, and the life of LED lamp has reached 50,000 ~ 100,000 hours, which means that the damage and replacement frequency of LED lamp is much lower than incandescent lamp and fluorescent lamp. So leds have a huge advantage, both in terms of cost and in terms of resources used to make them. He took LED lighting as an example, using data for reporters to deduce how LED is to achieve energy saving and carbon reduction. He told reporters that in 2020, for example, San 'an photoelectric LED chip annual production capacity, based on gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor LED chips about 11.25 million pieces (4 inches), among which lighting products accounted for 42%. Based on the calculation of 80 standard chips for a 5W LED lamp, the chip capacity of SAN 'an optoelectronics is expected to produce 34.2 billion 5W LED lamps. Compared with the energy-saving lamp with the same illumination (12W), each LED lamp can save 20.4 KWH, so 34.2 billion LED lamps can save 697.68 billion KWH, which is equivalent to the sum of 6.2 Three Gorges Dam power stations' annual electricity generation. According to public data, a 5W LED lamp reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 0.296 tons, and 34.2 billion LED lamps can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 10.123 billion tons, making an important contribution to the goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" in China. Compared with traditional street light sources, each LED street light saves 3,128 yuan in electricity per year. According to the data of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the number of urban road lamps in China will increase to 30.486 million by 2020. If they are all replaced with LED lamps, a total of 95.36 billion yuan of electricity will be saved annually, with considerable economic benefits.
In addition, intelligent control of LED lighting will also bring secondary energy saving. LED is not only a light source, or electronic components, it is easy to integrate control, can achieve secondary energy saving through intelligent control. For example, in the indoor field, people can go out, or time-sharing control brightness; In the outdoor field, it can be controlled by a single lamp to achieve brightness adjustment in different sections and time sharing. LED indoor and outdoor lighting products through the improvement of luminous efficiency, compared with traditional lighting products can achieve more than 50% energy saving; Through intelligent control, more than 20% energy saving can be realized.
Overall, LED lighting can achieve energy savings of 50 to 75 percent compared to traditional lighting products. In addition to saving energy, leds have also changed the way lighting is designed to achieve 'no light' lighting, while saving energy and achieving a better light environment.
